January 22, 1942 — June 23, 2024

Linda Lee Gilmer, 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at The Blake, Waco.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church.

Linda Lee was born January 22, 1942, in Dallas, Texas. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas and North Texas State College, majoring in business. Linda married Bill Gilmer in November 1970, each coming with two children from a previous marriage (Linda: Leanne and Scott; Bill: Laura and Elizabeth). In 1975, their son Michael was born. She loved crafts, sewing, church activities, traveling, entertaining, playing games, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Linda was always very involved in each church she attended – singing in the church choir from age 10, playing in the bell choir, chairing the rummage sale, and administering a Bible Study Fellowship class for several years. While a member of First Baptist Church Carrollton, Linda joyfully and faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher to both small children and blended families.

After retirement, Linda and Bill enjoyed many years of traveling before moving to Waco in 2008. While in Waco, she loved mentoring her student through Kids Hope and serving for several years with Bill in the Meals on Wheels ministry. She deeply enjoyed being part of the Boundless Love class at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and cherished her friends there. The love of Jesus and the Boundless Love class sustained her during the years.

Linda loved and cared deeply for people. She was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, Bill and Tressie Goff; her sister, Betty Spears; and her granddaughter, Lila Gilmer.

Linda is survived by her five children: daughter, Leanne Beardsley and husband, David, of Austin; son, Scott Tiner and wife, Louanne, of Fort Worth; daughter, Elizabeth Morand and husband, Tim, of Fort Worth; daughter, Laura Robles; and son, Michael Gilmer and wife, Summer, of China Spring. Mimi is survived by her 16 grandchildren: Brooke, Kalee, Kaleb, Kyle, Jared, Heather, Lacey, Matthew, Shane, Noël, Josh, Emily, Samuel, Brynn, Norah, and Allie; and her 14 great-grandchildren. Linda is also survived by her nephew, Jeff Spears.
