She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a remarkable passion for teaching that spanned over 40 years.

From the early 70's, Linda began her journey as an English teacher in Abilene, Texas, early on establishing herself as a beacon of inspiration for countless students. Her commitment to education was unwavering, leading her to work for many years at the Region XII Educational Service Center as a traveling librarian, where she fostered a love for reading in numerous Central Texas Schools. She later devoted many years as an English and Spanish teacher for Bosqueville ISD, where her influence extended far beyond the classroom. Linda was instrumental in sponsoring the Junior Class, working tirelessly on the yearbook, and organizing memorable events such as prom, homecoming, and graduation commencements. She retired in 2010, leaving behind a profound impact on her students and colleagues alike.
Linda’s academic achievements were remarkable. After graduating high school in 1966 in Hamlin, Texas, she earned her Bachelor's degree in English and Spanish from North Texas State University in 1970, followed by a Master's degree in Library Science from Texas Women's University. Her thirst for knowledge was contagious, and her family fondly remembers her ability to find answers to any question, often joking that before Google, there was Linda and her brother, Jerry.
She was not only an educator but a creative spirit who found joy in craftsmanship. Her talents as a brilliant painter complemented her love for ceramics, crocheting, and knitting, where she transformed ordinary materials into heartfelt gifts for friends and family alike. Linda adored her mother and deeply cherished her family, often finding joy and fulfillment in their gatherings and milestones.
One of her proudest accomplishments was traveling extensively with her best friend, Paula Patton, on genealogy trips in a fifth-wheel trailer all over the eastern United States, where they unearthed stories of their ancestors. Linda traced her lineage back to the Mayflower, a testament to her love of history and family connections.
Linda’s parents, Frank Clyde Legan and Doris Lucille Britton Legan, and her brother, Jerry Frank Legan, welcomed her into eternity, where she will forever be embraced by their love.
She is survived by her loving family, including sister-in-law, Pamela June Legan, wife of late brother Jerry Frank Legan; her two nephews, Jerry Andrew "Andy" Legan and his wife, Lori, and James Thomas Legan and his wife, Rebekah; her niece, Marisa Dorianne Legan Smith and her husband, Eric; and ten great-nieces and nephews: Andrew Jade "Drew" Legan, Kayla Marie Legan, Kayman Alexis Legan, Luci Olivia Legan, Jayda Addison Legan, Luke James Legan, Kymber Aliyah Legan, Devin Scott McDonald, Emmalyn June Smith, and Ethan Shay Smith; as well as a host of cousins. Linda’s students and friends will also undoubtedly carry her memory in their hearts.
The world has lost a gentle soul, a nurturing spirit, and a devoted educator, but Linda Sue Legan's light will continue to illuminate the lives of those who knew her.
