DICKERSON, LIONEL JACKSON Lionel Jackson Dickerson, age 91 of Robinson died Sunday, August 24, 2003 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:30am Wednesday, August 27 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 1124 Washington Ave. with Minister Tom Bedichek and Minister Joe Keyes officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Tuesday, August 26 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Dickerson was born in Hillsboro September 25, 1911 at home. He attended schools in Texas and Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Dallas Technical High School in 1930. He married Othello Emogene Crumpton on December 24, 1932 in Milford, Texas and moved to Waco in 1932. She preceded him in death December 5, 1979. He was an employee of the state for over 30 years. He was an aircraft engine mechanic during WWII. He was a member of Texas Public Employees Association, a longtime member of Columbus Ave. Church of Christ and an elder since 1962, having been baptized in 1928. He was the world’s best father, husband, and pawpaw. He will be greatly missed. He was short in stature, but great in character, displaying wisdom, kindness and patience to all who knew him. Survivors include daughter, Jeannie Dickerson of Robinson; son, Wendell Dickerson and wife, Carolyn of Temple; grandchildren, Jennifer Villanueva and husband, Louis, Dave Lionel Dickerson, and Samuel Wendell Dickerson and wife, Julie; great grandchild, Emma Villanueva; sisters, Elaine Faulhaber of Dallas and Homa Jean Tipton of Abilene; brother, Francis Sevier of Dallas; many nieces and nephews; and faithful dog, Heidi and granddogs, Elle and Sadie. Pallbearers will be Dave Dickerson, Sam Dickerson, Louis Villanueva, Steve Beatty, Steve Mullins, and Coke Beatty. Honorary pallbearers are elders of Columbus Ave. Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to Columbus Ave. Church of Christ, American Diabetes Association or Hillcrest Home Health Services.
