SCHWINN, LLOYD HENRY Lloyd Henry Schwinn of Woodway died Sunday, May 30, following a long bout with heart and lung disease. He was 84. The family will hold a private memorial service. Details are pending. Lloyd was born November 18, 1920 in Murtaugh, Idaho to Della Mae Barnett Schwinn and Charles Bastow Schwinn, along with twin brother Floyd William Schwinn. The family lived in Hazelton, Jerome and Wendell, Idaho before moving to Bellingham, Wash. He grew up working on the family farm in Wendell, Idaho along with his seven siblings. He attended Appleton School and attended what is now Boise State University, where he played baseball. He also played semi-pro baseball. While living in Bellingham, Wash., he worked as a police officer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Bellizzi in 1947. They were married for 51 years before she passed away in 1998. Following Army service, he worked as a butcher in San Jose, Calif., owning his own store, working for Safeway and finally working at the Butcher’s Union Hall. When his children were young, he served as president of the Parent Teacher’s Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Butcher’s Union and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He retired to Sonora, Calif., where he lived in the Sonora Hills Retirement Community and was an avid billiards player and sports fan. He later moved to Woodway and lived with his son. Survivors include his sister, Clysta Mae Schwinn Hawks of Bellingham, Wash.; his brothers, Claire Louis Schwinn of Brunswick, Maryland, Charles Beauford Schwinn of Layton, Utah; sons, Jeff Schwinn of Manteca, Calif., David Boyens of Woodway, Paul Schwinn of Oakley, Calif.; daughter, Lorraine Hawkins of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
