Lois M. Sutton July 5, 1925 June 17, 2015 Dr. Lois Marie Sutton of Waco died on Wednesday, June 17th after a brief illness. A private Interment will be in Fort Worth at Mount Olivet Garden of Memories. Dr. Sutton was born on July 5, 1925 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Edgar B. and Edith M. Sutton. She was a graduate of Carter High School in Fort Worth. Dr. Sutton received her B.A. from the University of Texas, M.A. from Baylor, Ph.D. from the University of Texas, and also studied at the University of Mexico and the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. Dr. Sutton began her teaching career in the foreign language department at Baylor University in 1945 and retired in 1994. She taught French, Spanish, and Italian and for several years served as Chair of the Department of French. In 2004, Dr. Sutton was presented the Herbert H. Reynolds Award for Exemplary Service and also the Baylor University Retired Faculty Service Award. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad and cherished the special friendships made with Baylor colleagues as well as friendships and correspondence with numerous former students.
