On August 11, 1962, Lois and Colonel Rex Monroe Thompson were married. They were stationed in California before retiring to San Angelo, Texas where they resided from 1970 to 1986 when Colonel Thompson passed away on August 22. Mrs. Thompson moved to Ridgecrest Retirement Center in Waco where she lived for eighteen years. In July of 2004, she moved to Eldorado to live with her daughter.
