Lometa Beckworth

Lometa Beckworth December 15, 1923 - May 20, 2008 R. Lometa Beckworth of Waco passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Bellville General Hospital. Services will be at 10:00 am Friday, May 23, at Western Heights Baptist Church with the Dr. Paul Stripling and Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Thursday, May 22, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Lometa was born December 15, 1923, in Limestone County to B.T. and Pearl Ramsey. She graduated from Hubbard High School in 1941 and worked at Buck and Hawk during WWII. She subsequently began her sense of calling as a church secretary, which she fulfilled at Brook Avenue Baptist Church, Hillcrest Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, North Waco Baptist Church, and for a short time as a secretary at the Waco Baptist Association under Dr. Paul Stripling. In 1947 she met and married Jack L. Beckworth at Brook Avenue Baptist Church, and they were married for almost 60 years. Lometa became a Christian at an early age and was a member of numerous Baptist churches in the Waco area throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by sons, Rev. David Jack Beckworth and wife, Cynthia, Chappell Hill, TX; Stan Wayne Beckworth and wife, Kelly, Waco, TX; grandchildren, Alicia Seaton, Jana Dexter, Benjamin Beckworth, Isaac Beckworth, Tiegan Beckworth, Brendon Kieran, Laura Beckworth, Joel Beckworth, Mary Anna Beckworth, and Faith Beckworth; great grandchild, Devin Kieran; brother Charlie Ramsey and wife, Jackie; nieces, Kathy Treadway and Cindy Liles; and nephews, Thomas and Terry Ramsey. Pallbearers are Benjamin Beckworth, Isaac Beckworth, Joel Beckworth, Steve Holcomb, Mark Holcomb, Terry Ramsey, and Tommy Ramsey. Memorials may be made to Western Heights Baptist Church.
