Lorna Louese Allen

ALLEN, LORNA LOUESE Lorna Louese Allen, 86 of Robinson, died Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 10am Friday, October 1 at Waco Memorial North with the Rev. Stephen Ramsdell and Dick Wooten officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Thursday, September 30 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Mrs. Allen was born August 16, 1918 in Marietta, Ohio to Doby and Clara Doebereiner. She was a graduate of Marietta High School. While earning her nursing degree at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, she met Jack Allen, whom she married on July 6, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas. She practiced as a registered nurse until they began their family. They moved to Waco in 1951 and lived there until 1967. When Jack retired they moved back to Waco in 1984. Jack preceded her in death June 14, 2002. She was a member of the Wesleyan Workers Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church of Waco. She was a seamstress and loved traveling, square dancing and the outdoors. In her later life she enjoyed reading. Most of all she loved her grandchildren. Survivors include daughter, Karen Collier and husband, Curtis of Robinson; sons, Terrell Allen and wife, Debbie of Kettering, Ohio and Jack Allen and wife, Billie Ann of Robinson; grandchildren, Melissa Woosley and husband, Scott, Lorna Hering and husband, Jim, Trent Collier and wife, Kristy, Brad Allen and wife, D’Ellen, Kelli Allen, and Tyler Allen; great grandchildren, Jordanna, Jaley and Jennah Woosley, Ryan, Rhett and Mara Hering, and Ashlyn Collier; and brother, Glen Doebereiner and wife, Barbara of Kettering, Ohio. Honorary pallbearers are Wesleyan Workers of First United Methodist Church, Trent Collier, Brad Allen, Tyler Allen and Glen Doebereiner.
