Louie John Veselka

July 6, 1931 — August 22, 2022

Louie Veselka, 91, of Waco, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 22, 2022 at his home along with his family at his side. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Boulevard, in Waco followed by visitation from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 2001 North 25th Street, in Waco with Father Miguel Flores officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West. He was 91 years old and was born on July 6, 1931 in Hallsburg, Texas to John and Annie (Marek) Veselka. He attended La Vega School and is a member of St. Louis Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. He is a member of SPJST Lodge 66 of Waco. Louie worked at Alamo Steel since 1953 and retired in 1987. Louie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to catch the bus going to Bossier and Winstar to gamble. He enjoyed going polka dancing, where he and Dorothy would dance all night long. He had a special move that was stomping his right foot during the dance. He also would dance with his daughter Diana on the jitterbug. On August 9, 1952, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jane Trcalek Marek in Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie (Marek) Veselka; brother’s, Adolf Veselka and Gus (Augustine) Veselka; and brothers-in-law, James Frazier, Gilbert Marek, and Robert Kasik. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Dorothy Veselka; daughter, Diana Engelke and husband, John of Waco; sister, Elleen Frazier of Waco; sisters-in-law Joyce Johnson and husband, John of Carrollton, Jolynn Kasik of West and Lillian Marek of West; grandson, Justin Engelke and wife, Misha of Waco; two great-grandchildren, Mira Caden and Jackson Engelke; along with many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Mark Frazier, John Johnson, Ronny Foit, Keith Koester, Michael Galler and Liam Black. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to any charity organization of your choice. We want to express our thanks to the Accent Care Hospice, they were so helpful through this process and we are so grateful for their caring services. A special thank you to Alejandra, Traci, Jennifer and all the staff. We also want to thank Right At Home for coming out and helping us with Dad.
