SCHOLL, III, LOUIS A. Louis A. Scholl, III, age 83, of Waco, died Sunday, March 17, 2002 at his home. Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, March 21 at First Presbyterian Church of Waco with the Rev. Jimmie Johnson and the Rev. Deacon Larry Sandlin officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, March 22 at Forest Park Cemetery on Lawndale in Houston. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday, March 20 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Scholl was born to Louis A. Scholl, Jr. and Ethel Bevins Scholl on July 15, 1918. His early years were spent in Bogata, Columbia and Caracas, Venezuela, when his father was employed by the Texaco Oil Company. Louis grew up in Houston, graduated from San Jacinto High and attended Texas A & M. After Pearl Harbor, he joined the U.S. Air Force and received his wings and commissions in June 1944. After a career of 25 years, he retired and made Waco his home. Louis married Frances Sandlin of Valley Mills in September 1943 and they shared 58 ½ years of love, happiness and many worldwide adventures. Louis was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, having served as a Deacon and as an Elder. He was a member of Waco Rotary Club for 25 years and named a Paul Harris Fellow. Through the years, Louis supported the arts, being a patron of Waco Symphony, the Hippodrome and the Civic Theater. He found great joy in being a rancher for 15 years and owned the Bar Bar A Ranch, near Valley Mills. Survivors include his wife, Frances Sandlin Scholl of Waco; daughter, Barbara Scholl Stevens of Dallas; grandchildren, Louis Alan Scholl Stevens and wife, Paisley, John Marshall Stevens and wife, Tara, Elizabeth Ann Stevens and Susan Juniac Stevens; great grandchildren, Dennis Lyne Scholl Stevens and Ryan Stevens; sister, Phyllis Peden of Spring and numerous nieces and nephews. Family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Hillcrest Community Hospice, Hillcrest MICU nurses, and our wonderful caregivers for their care, love and support. Pallbearers will be Louis Alan Scholl Stevens, John Stevens, Allen Sykes, Jim Peden, Chad Quick, Brian Reynolds, Roy Richard, Jr., and Ed Creasy. Honorary pallbearers are Bob McCollum, Grover Carothers, Gene Sandlin, Bud Quick, Howard Sykes, Carl Norton, Dr. Andy Moore, Dr. Charles A. Shoultz, Jr., Dr. Dutch Shoultz, and Dr. Ronald Wilson.
