Louis Herrera Amaro

December 15, 1945 — June 20, 2024

Louis Amaro, 78, passed away June 20, 2024, at Ascension Providence Hospital.

Services were held at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home as a private service for his immediate family on Monday, June 24, 2024. Father Benjie Magnaye from Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiated the service.

Louis was born in Waco, Texas to Bencelado and Concepcion Amaro. He was the youngest of six children. After 5 years of dating, he married his high school sweet heart Linda Sillers Amaro in 1966. They would have celebrated their 58th anniversary this year. He was a great father to four boys Mario, Orlando, Ricardo, and Silverio.

He graduated from Waco High School in 1965. He attended Hill College and received a Bachelor’s degree from TSTC and was a certified ASE mechanic. He worked at Walgreens when he was younger and then the Waco State Home. He also worked at the General Tire plant in Waco until it closed in the 80’s. Afterward, Louis started his own auto repair shop. In the 90’s, he went to work as a jailer at the McLennan County Sheriff’s department until he retired. After he retired, he would spend his time enjoying life with his loving wife and taking care of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would help anyone that needed help. Whatever it was, Louis would always find a way. He was happy as long as his kids and grandkids were happy and safe. He really enjoyed being on Instagram and finding funny memes to share. He had a great sense of humor and always had something funny to say. His laughter will be extremely missed. We were all lucky to have him in our lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Carrizales; and brothers, Endalecio Amaro, Rosalio Amaro, and Silverio Amaro.

Louis is survived by his wife, Linda Sillers Amaro; son, Mario Amaro and wife Janie; son, Orlando Amaro and wife Lindy; son, Ricardo Amaro; son, Silverio Amaro and wife Paula; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Johnny Herrera Amaro and wife, Josie Deleon; and many nieces and nephews.
