LOUIS STERNE,SR. Louis Towns Sterne, Sr., age 86 of Bellmead died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at a local nursing facility. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Walter Albers officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 at San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin, Texas. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Sterne was born on September 13, 1917 in Lexa, Arkansas to Joseph Henry and Emma Louise Sittmann Sterne. He grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1938 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and soon transferred to the Army Air Corps working in aviation maintenance. He married Esther Marie Heideke on June 24, 1942 in Seguin. He continued his career with the U.S. Air Force serving in the Pacific during WWII. Retiring from the Air Force in 1959, he began a 20 year career with the Texas Highway Department. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Joe, Ed, Emmett and Roy. Mr. Sterne was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead. Survivors include his wife, Esther M. Sterne of Bellmead; son, Louis Sterne, Jr. and wife Kathy of Beaumont; grandsons, David Sterne and wife Roxanne of Houston, and Jonathan Sterne and wife Natalie of Pearland; great granddaughters, Madeline and Emma Sterne; brother, Charlie Sterne and wife Jean of Jacksonville, Arkansas; sister, Joann Holladay of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
