Lowell Nathaniel Shead December 16, 1932 July 9, 2015 Lowell Nathaniel Shead of China Spring passed away on July 9, 2015. Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, July 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Lowell was born December 16, 1932, to Lula and Herman Nathaniel Shead, in Douglasville, Georgia. He attended Douglasville High School and Georgia State University in Atlanta. He served with the 19th Bombardment Wing, 20th Far East Air Force during the Korean War. Lowell was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and was ordained a deacon at First Baptist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He and his wife, Jeanne, moved from South Carolina in 1996 to be near family. Lowell was active in civic organizations, served fourteen years as a member and chairman of Region 2 Selective Service System in South Carolina. He was employed by ITT Rayonier and retired after 34 years. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 59 years, Jeanne Williams Shead. He is survived by his son, Russell Nathaniel and wife, Carol, and grandchildren, Taylor Nathaniel and Daniel Beattie Shead of North Richland Hills, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Jean Kirk of Orlando, Florida, and grandchildren, Morgan Smith Kirk and wife, Ashley, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Bailey Mackenzie Kirk of Tallahassee, Florida; daughter, Amy Dianne Norbery and husband, Clay, of San Antonio, and grandchildren, Elizabeth Erin Easley and Alexander Richard Easley of Waco; sister, Anne Davis; sister-in-law, Martha Ann Little and husband, Curtis; brother-in-law, Tommy Williams; sister-in-law, Anne Williams; and various nieces and nephews. For those desiring, memorials may be made to Columbus Avenue Baptist Church or Providence Hospice of Waco.
