Barron, Loyd September 14, 1911 – September 12, 2005 Loyd Wood Barron passed away on September 12, 2005 in Waco. Services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 15 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. W.H. Bill Smith officiating. Graveside service will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery near Mart with Rev. Corey and Rev. Kelli Agricola presiding. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, September 14 from 6 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, 6101 Bosque. Loyd Barron was born September 14, 1911 near Battle, McLennan County, Texas, the only son of William Loyd and Ethel Wood Barron. He grew up in the Battle and Mart communities, graduating from Mart High School in 1930. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1934 to 1939 in Bartlett and Taylor, Texas. On December 19, 1939, he and Aleene Adams of Bartlett were married in Temple, Texas. Loyd worked in San Angelo, Texas from 1940 to 1944 with the Corps of Engineers in the building of Goodfellow Air Base. He later worked at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Bluebonnet Ordinance Plant in McGregor and Limestone County Electric Cooperative in Mart where he retired in 1977 after 29 years. Loyd was a member of First Baptist Church in Mart. After retirement, Loyd and Aleene moved to Waco in 1981 where he was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist and Meadowbrook Baptist Churches. Loyd was preceded in death by his wife, Aleene; son, Billy Loyd Barron; parents, sisters, Evelyn Tankersley and Josephine Byrd; son-in-law, Lowell Browne and grandson-in-law, Lawrence Hardin. Survivors include daughters, Diana Browne and Connie Adams and daughter-in-law, Nancy Barron all of Waco; grandson, Eddie Sawyers and granddaughters, Norma Nichols Freemen, Dana Hardin Morrin, Lisa Browne Holland, Sara Sawyers Atwell, Kelli Barron Agricola and Kati Barron Fuqua; great grandchildren, Jamie Lee Sawyers, Leah, Jessica and Miranda Nichols, Colby Hardin, Heath, Luke and Grant Holland, Zachary and Evan Atwell and great great granddaughter, Taylor Neuman. Pallbearers will be Eddie Sawyers, Jamie Lee Sawyers, Corky Holland, Frank Atwell, Bryan Fuqua and Cory Agricola. The family would like to thank Royal Manor staff for their loving care of Papaw for the past three years and eleven months.
