CARTWRIGHT, LT. COL. THOMAS F., U.S.A.F. Ret. Born July 29, 1934 to a military family at Ft. Jay, Governor’s Island, New York, Tom enlisted in the Navy at age 17 as a signalman on a destroyer. He then won a Presidential appointment to West Point, where he was commissioned into the United States Air Force upon graduation. During his Air Force career, Tom was a pilot who was awarded many medals, including the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Upon retirement, he became an aeronautical engineer. Tom is survived by his wife, Eula Ginger; daughter, Ann-Marie Avalos and son-in-law George Avalos of Lincoln, Nebraska; son, Brian Cartwright and daughter-in-law Terri Cartwright of Highland Village, TX; beloved granddaughter, Madison; sister, Frances Richburg and brother-in-law Robert Richburg or Ft. Collins, Colorado; nephew Matthew Richburg and his wife Sara, of Atlanta, Georgia; nephew Andy Richburg and his wife Kristi, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many loved and kind friends. Burial will be at sea. Please send memorials to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity. Special thanks to Col.
