Lubie A. Moss May 23, 1929 – December 15, 2015 Lubie A. Moss, 86, joined her Lord Jesus and loved ones in Heaven on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Whitehall Cemetery in Woodway. The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, December 18, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Lubie was born May 23, 1929, in Dimmit County, Texas, to Kay Burton and Julia Ayers. Lubie resided in her hometown of Carrizo Springs until she moved to San Antonio to attend Trinity University and study nursing. She became a Registered Nurse after graduating from Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. While living in San Antonio, Lubie met the love her life, Walter K. Moss, and the two were married on November 17, 1951. The couple lived their first year of marriage in Kingsville, Texas, where Lubie began her nursing career working in the infirmary at Texas A & I University. In 1952, the couple settled in San Antonio and resided there for fourteen years where Lubie worked as an RN specializing in pediatrics. In 1966, Walter and Lubie moved to Waco where they raised their children in the Woodway area. In 1973, Lubie was hired as the first school nurse by the Midway ISD and retired in 1994 as the Health Coordinator of Midway ISD. Lubie is remembered by the school district as their health care pioneer and is honored by the district with the Lubie Moss Rose Garden located on the Woodway Elementary Campus. Lubie was also passionate about gardening and was a member of the Four Seasons Garden Club and Crawford Wildflowers Garden Club. Lubie was a member of First Baptist Church Woodway. Lubie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Walter; brothers, Milton, Walter, Winfred and O.D. Ayers; sisters, Evelyn Turner, Doris Blackley, Ophelia James, Faye Taylor and Mary Howell. She is survived by daughters, Julie Moss of McGregor and Kelly Moss Price and husband, Kyle, of McGregor; sons, Tracy Moss of Jacksboro and Dr. Brad Moss and wife, Polly, of Keller; grandchildren, Jacob Moss and wife, Stephanie, Maggie and Elly Moss, Katy and Jack Price and Tanner Moss; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lubie loved her family and friends dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers are Tracy Moss, Dr. Brad Moss, Kyle Price, Jacob Moss, Tanner Moss, Jack Price, Chad Oates, Matt Horn and Rafe Piper. The family wishes to thank Stoney Brook of Hewitt for the love and care they gave their Mother for the last several years.
