Lucile L. Naudain

March 8, 1909 — September 11, 2004

NAUDAIN, LUCILE Lucile Lewis Naudain died September 11, 2004 at a local nursing home. She was 95 years old and had Alzheimer's dementia. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Rosemound Cemetery with The Rev. Frank Mangum officiating. Arrangements are by Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Lucile was born March 8, 1909 in Beeville, Texas to Oscar Dewitt and Maude Harrell Lewis. The second of four children, she spent her childhood in Waco from three months of age and graduated from Waco High School in 1926, often driving to school in a Model T. Prior to marriage Lucile worked, providing clerical support at an insurance company and also aiding the war effort at Blackland Army Air Field. While working at the Amicable Life Insurance Company, Lucile met and fell in love with Willis Arters Naudain. They married on November 6, 1943 and were married for 25 years until Willis's death in 1969. Lucile was an accomplished homemaker and also was active in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She had a wonderful ability to take care of herself and others and was healthy and vital until her 88th year. Health food, vitamins, and moderate living contributed to her longevity. Lucile was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Lewis Bates and Gladys Lewis Keahey and by one brother O.D. Lewis, all of Waco. Lucile is survived by her only daughter Becky Carver and husband Bob of Austin; grandson Eric Carver of Orange, Texas; granddaughter Diana Carver Smith and husband Dave of Austin; and grandson Kevin Carver of Austin. She is also survived by nephew Kent Keahey and wife Bev of Waco; nephew Bruce Keahey of Dallas; nephew Glen Lewis and wife Rojean of Garland; niece Lucy Shaughnessy and husband Joe of Waco; and a niece Pat Trotter of Locker, Texas. The family thanks St. Catherine Center, especially the third floor nursing staff, for their seven years of faithful care of Lucile.
