Lynn Cole

Lynn Cole April 26, 1921 - May 17, 2011 Lynn Cole of Waco went to be with her Heavenly Father, Tuesday, May 17, 2011, in Richardson, Texas. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at First Baptist Church of Waco with Dr. Matthew Snowden and Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Lynn was born April 26, 1921, in Beasley, Tex., to August and Alwine Krause. She was the valedictorian of Beasley High School in 1938 with an arts scholarship. For many years she was the reserve librarian at the Baylor Moody Library where she met many lifetime friends. She was a very active member of the Hannah Sunday School class at her church and an avid supporter of Lady Bear Basketball. Lynn was a generous supporter of many fund raisers for Baylor and First Baptist Church. She was known as one of the "Ya-Ya" sisters with her best friends, Dorothy O'Malley and Lloyd Neese, who had a very unique friendship. Lynn was a member of First Baptist Church of Waco since 1959. She was active in VBS, sewing groups, decorated tables for senior activities, volunteered in Women's Missions and the nursery, a member of Baylor Senior Choir, an active member of Terrific Tuesday and Magic Club, a member of the Tip Off Club and the Baylor Round Table. She enjoyed many senior church trips with her friends and was very involved and talented in arts and crafts. In her own quiet way, she supported everyone, not taking credit for accomplishments. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and loyal friend to many, and will be missed by all who knew her. She was treasured by all those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Mart Cole Jr.; and three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her two daughters, Ruth Burnette and husband, Dan, of Richardson, and Cathy Portner and husband, Michael, of Pilot Point, TX; and son, Kip Cole and wife, Debbie, of San Antonio; grandchildren, Melissa Metcalfe, Lance Burnette and wife, Vanessa, Jeff Burnette, Krystal Fisher and husband, Bernie, and Valerie Gomes and husband, Tony; several nieces and nephews; great grandchildren, Jayden and Kaylee Burnette and Jack and Luke Burnette; Alyssa, Devyn and Eryn Roberts, A.J., David and Rachel Gomes; and Mrs. Cole's loving dog, Precious. She lived a long, full and spiritual life. Pallbearers are Lance Burnette, Jeff Burnette, Roy Behrens, Tony Gomes, Bernie Fisher and Billy Krause.
