Lynn Marie Hayner

March 23, 1961 — July 21, 2023

Lynn Hayner, age 62, died at home in Waco with her family by her side. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., in Waco, Texas, with Reverend Joann Dominguez officiating. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at 3:00 p.m. prior to the service, as well as immediately after the service, at the funeral home, and following the service, with an informal dinner.

Lynn was born in Chicago and grew up in South Holland, Illinois. She graduated from The University of Illinois with a B.A. in History and received her J.D. from DePaul University. She worked in the field of law and more recently wrote for dog consumer magazines. Lynn married the love of her life, David Hayner, in 1984, and in 1987, started on her most fulfilling work, motherhood. Lynn and Dave raised their two daughters in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Austin, Texas. In Austin, Lynn taught high school Sunday school for many years, and was part of the youth council at her church for just as many. In 2015, Lynn and Dave moved to Waco to be closer to family.

Lynn was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Marie Leary Weber.

Lynn is survived by her husband, David Hayner; her daughter, Laura Mullens and husband, Robby; her daughter, Michelle Drake and husband, Adam; five delightful grandchildren: Avery, Bryan, Logan, and Quinn Mullens, and Cora Drake. She is also survived by her father, Allen Weber; sister, Kathy Yaccino and husband, John; sister-in-law, Janet LaBarge; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Lynn was a fierce patriot, a proud Texan, a loving wife, daughter, sister, and friend, and, above all, a devoted mother and grandmother. Lynn’s passion for and devotion to her family remain with us and sustain us.

Memorials may be made in Lynn’s memory to the scholarship fund at her church: First Methodist Waco, Attn: Lauren Lindsey, 4901 Cobbs Drive, Waco, Texas 76710.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory on the “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
