Mabel Cross March 8, 1913 - January 14, 2006 Mabel Cross, 92, passed away at her residence on Saturday, January 14, 2006. Funeral services will be at 11:30 am Tuesday, January 17 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Mabel was born in Gatesville, TX on March 8, 1913. She graduated from Waco High School in 1930. She married J. D. Cross September 2, 1939 in Waco. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975. Mabel began her career at Southwestern Bell Telephone company and became a homemaker after her marriage to J.D. Throughout the years, they enjoyed being with close friends in gin clubs and couple's bridge clubs. She was an avid bridge player, and a dedicated golf & Dallas Cowboy fan. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother and her strong spirit was an inspiration to her family. She is survived by her sister, Marguerite Curtis; her daughter, Vicki L. Shivers and husband, Kenneth; her son, Rodney Cross and wife, Linda Lee; grandchildren, Julie Guthrie & husband, Brandon, Rebecca Shivers, Renee Pershall and husband, Robert, Mike Cross and wife, Carolee, Tom Cross and wife, Kelly, Jim Cross and wife, Cyndi and nine great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mike Cross, Tom Cross, Jim Cross, Brandon Guthrie and great grandsons, Garret and Travis Armes.
