Mabel Lawson March 16, 1913 October 15, 2014 Mabel Lawson, 101, of Waco passed away October 15, 2014, at the Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton, Texas. Funeral services to celebrate her long life will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Funeral Home, officiated by her eldest grandson, Terry Williams. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas. Mabel was one of seven children born to Thomas B. Audas and Magnolia Price Audas on March 16, 1913. Mabel married Eddie Lawson in 1930. They were blessed with two daughters, Peggy and Phyllis. Eddie's job took them all over Texas, as well a short stint in Puerto Rico. They made lifelong friends wherever they lived. Mabel's passions were fishing and playing bridge. They lived in Texas City for many years, where she enjoyed doing both and continued when she moved to Waco more than 20 years ago. She also loved tending her flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Dale Lawson, in 1970; brothers, Horace, Hugh and R.Q. Audas; sisters, Doris Meyer, Jo Dale, and Ella Jean Ferguson; son-in-law, John Waco Williams; and a beloved great grandson, Cody Williams. She is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Williams of Waco and Phyllis Chew of Richmond, Texas; a half-brother, F. D. Audas, of Gladewater, Texas; two nieces, Carol Faulkner and Jimmie McCarthy; and nephews, Tommy Dale and Bobby Audas. Surviving grandchildren are Terry Williams and wife, Sheri, Dale Williams and wife, Barby, Scott Williams, Kelly Haltiner and husband, Chris, Linda Friedrich and husband, Tom, Sharon Linton and husband, John, Clay Chew and wife, Sue, and Michael Chew. She leaves ten great grandchildren along with eight great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at the Lutheran Sunset Home for the excellent love and care they gave to Mrs. Lawson during her stay with them the last three years of her life.
