Mable Anderson

April 12, 1921 — May 21, 2013

Mable Anderson April 12, 1921 - May 21, 2013 Mable Anderson of Waco passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013. The family will have a private graveside service. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mable Svea Ingeborg Carlson was born April 12, 1921, in Elgin, Texas, to Ossian and Hanna Carlson. After graduating from Elgin High she worked in Austin and worked for a law firm. While attending a church Valentine gathering, she would meet her husband for life, Fred. They would begin their journey together on May 5, 1945, until his passing in 1997. In 1947, they moved to Waco and opened Smoot-Anderson Co. While Fred laid the building blocks for the future, Mable was the mortar holding it all together. Their union would be forever based on love and devotion to family and their faith. Mable was a faithful member of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, Fred W. Anderson; and her brother, Carl Carlson. She is survived by loving son, Larry Anderson, and wife, Leigh of Crawford, TX; grandchildren, Chris Anderson and wife, Crystal, Jonathan Anderson and wife, Audrey, Lyndsey Richardson and husband, Russell, and Aaron Hollingsworth and wife, Elaine; great grandchildren, Taylor, Rylie, R. J., Seth, Logan, Trey and Abram; sister, Elizabeth Henry of Houston; sister-in-law, Ruth Carlson of San Antonio; cousins, Sigurd Walldal and wife, Elva and Peter Michel of Sweden. Honorary pallbearers are the employees of Smoot-Anderson, past and present. The family expresses their special thanks to our friends with Bluebonnet Home Care, Senior Care of Hewitt and Bluebonnet Hospice. Memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue or Waco Humane Society.
