Mable Ellen Lampert Ekrut April 29, 1918 – February 5, 2006 Mable Ekrut, 87, passed away February 5, 2006 in Waco, Texas. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 10 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel with Rev. Jason Burden, Rev. Dr. Bruce Lampert and Rev. Jeff Lynn officiating. Burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque. Mrs. Ekrut was born April 29, 1918 to Willie and Emma Schulte Lampert in Falls County Cottonwood, Texas. She married Herbert Ekrut June 1, 1939. She was the third child in a family of ten. Mable supported her husband in his business endeavors throughout Texas. They owned several Western Auto Stores, the last one in Eastland, Texas. Mable and Herbert retired to a farm in Falls County near Chilton in the 1960’s. She loved to play “42” and “84”, loved to garden, travel, cook and spend time with her family. Mable was a member of First Baptist Church, Chilton and previously at Cottonwood Baptist Church where she served as pianist many times. She was known to all as Aunt Mable and was devoted to God and her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert in 1978: her parents and four brothers, Albert Red, Bennie, Marvin and Harry Lampert and infant sister, Doris. She is survived by four sisters: Katherine Hudler and husband, Stan of Copperas Cove, Dolores Shirley and husband, John of Round Rock, Hazel Gibson and husband, Bob of Richmond and Irma Lynn and husband Stanley of San Angelo and many loving nieces and nephews. Mable was not blessed with any children of her own, but her nieces and nephews were dear to her. She is also survived by many cousins, extended relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be John E. Shirley, William Mark Shirley, Dale Gibson, Randy Phelps, John Ekrut and Jimmy Debney. The family would like to thank Hillcrest Hospice and the staff of Crestview Nursing Home Hospice wing for their care and support of her.
