Mack Arthur McLain June 26, 1921 September 13, 2013 Lt. Colonel Mack Arthur McLain, 92, of Waco, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 16, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Mack was born June 26, 1921, in Ft. Worth, Texas to parents Arthur and Cora McLain. He graduated at age 16 from Paschal High School in 1938. Mack joined the United States Air Force on January 5, 1942. Before being stationed overseas, he married Eleanor NeSmith, the love of his life, on June 5, 1942. Mack served 28 years in the Air Force and flew 67 missions in northern Italy and France during World War II. During his military career he received his Bachelor of Science while stationed in Maryland and Juris Doctorate in Alabama. In 1964, he became professor of aerospace studies and director ROTC at Baylor University. Mack retired from the Air force in 1969, and worked for two decades as Vice President of Manufacturing for Success Motivation Institute before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Rotary Club and Shriners. Mack was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 60 years, Eleanor McLain. Survivors include his three daughters, Tara Zander and husband, Bill, Lisa Langlotz and husband, Charles, Laura Hodges and husband, Kim, all of Waco; eight grandchildren, Kyle Zander and wife, Jennifer, of Frisco, Kristine McDonald and husband, Michael, of Waco, Alec Price and wife, Carla, Kirk Zander and wife, Kimberly, Triniti Hall and husband, Andrew, Kelli Zander, all of Waco, Brandon Hodges and wife, Lacy of Crescen, and Kaitlynn Hodges of Waco; and 13 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Shriners and Providence Hospice.
