HALL, MAJOR BOB Major R.E. “Bob” Hall, 79, of Waco, was Promoted To Glory on Thursday, July 15, 2004 at a local hospital. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 20, at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center, located at South 13th & I-35, Waco, with Lt. Colonel Orville Salmon, Lt. Colonel Robert Tritton, and Captain Timothy Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6:30 – 8:30 pm, Monday, July 19th, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Major Hall was born September 1, 1924, in Dallas to James and Emma Hall. He served his country in the Navy as a Signalman on the USS New Jersey during World War II. He married Elaine Wyatt of Houston in 1946 and together they began a life of service to God and man as Salvation Army ministers. His service included assignments in the following Texas cities: Austin, Littlefield, Big Spring, Corsicana, Midland, Waco, Lubbock, Amarillo, San Angelo, Texarkana, Victoria, Temple, Bryan-College Station, Cleburne, and Killeen. Bob was very active in Salvation Army Disaster work acquiring the title, “Mr. Disaster,” for his service not only in numerous locations throughout Texas, but also in California, Florida, Oklahoma, Mexico, and Guatemala. He is a lifetime member of the Waco Founder Lions Club. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine, daughters, Janet Harrison and husband Ray of Waco, Beverly Munoz of Austin, Barbara Brewer of Waco; foster daughter Josie Moore of Waco; granddaughter Lynnette Engelbert and husband Les of Arlington; grandsons, Ray Harrison II and David Wheeler both of Waco, Cleveland Wheeler, US Navy USS Gettysburg, and Manual Munoz of Austin; and great-granddaughter Kayla Engelbert of Arlington. Bob’s surviving siblings include: Donald of Florida, Edwin, Larry, Elaine White, and Jenna Lee Morris, all of Houston. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as faithful, devoted friends. He loved serving others, traveling with family especially to Colorado, playing his trombone, and playing “42” with his friends.
