Marc Edgar “Eddie” King Jr. passed away Monday, December 19, 2022.
Services will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 23 with The Rev. Aaron Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. A livestream of the service will be available at www.YouTube.com/stalbanswaco for those unable to attend in person.
Eddie was born in Waco to Marc and Gay Grossenbacher King. His family relocated to Midland when he was an infant and he spent the first 10 years of his life in the Permian Basin. “Fast” Eddie’s parents were proud of the charismatic, fearless child who had no qualms about jumping on a stage to sing “Born in the USA” with a band or attempting to eat two dozen raw oysters hoping to win a pony. Even at an early age, his personality shone as brightly as his white-blonde hair and blue eyes.
After moving back to Waco, Eddie attended Mountainview Elementary and played baseball in Lake Air Little League with some of his best childhood friends. He then attended Lake Air Middle School and China Spring High School, before graduating from Vanguard College Preparatory School in 1999. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 2003 with a degree in communications. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. After college, he spent a brief stint working in Juneau, Alaska, before returning to his hometown to work in sales and real estate. Eddie was a lifelong member of Saint Alban’s Episcopal Church, where was baptized, confirmed, and married Leighton Cromwell in 2011. Leighton and Eddie were childhood church friends and together, they had two children, Marc Edgar “Tritt” King III and Rheagan Elaine King, who were his greatest accomplishments.
Eddie was always the life of the party who loved his family and friends and loved life to the fullest. He was happiest being in the great outdoors, taking long motorcycle rides, hunting, and jamming good tunes on the guitar. He continued to maintain strong friendships and was well-known and well-loved in many different social circles. He loved cheering on his TCU Horned Frogs and continued to enjoy returning for alumni events and games.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; grandfathers, Clyde Rudolph Grossenbacher, Harris Bryant Allen, and Bertram Emory King; grandmother, Joanne Hicks King; and aunt, Rose Grossenbacher.
