Margaret G. Evans July 29, 1914 - October 22, 2009 Margaret Greer Evans of Waco passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 24, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 23, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Margaret was born July 29, 1914, in Eddy, Texas, to Norman K. and Elizabeth Morton Greer. She graduated from Tarleton State College. She and Walter Evans, Jr. were married on June 17, 1933, and resided in Lorena, TX. They moved to Waco in 1972. She was involved in many local organizations, serving on the Boards of Laura Edwards School and Woodland Springs Nursing Home, a 30 year volunteer at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, Daughter of the American Revolution, P.E.O. Chapter BF, Brazos Forum and the Waco Symphony. Margaret was a 76-year member of Lorena United Methodist Church, involved in the Lorena Cemetery Association, Lorena United Methodist Women and the Lorena Womens Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter P. Evans, Jr.; and brothers, Thomas Greer and Kenneth Greer. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Evans Pennington and husband, Col. Lawrence; and son, Dr. Walter "Phil" Philmore Evans III and wife, Laurie; grandchildren, Ed Pennington and wife, Debbie; Ann Wise; Lori Pennington; Walter "Chip" Philmore Evans IV and wife, Cadie; Brett Evans; David Hardaway and wife, Janice; great-grandchildren, Alyson and Marcus Pennington, Lori LeAnn and Elizabeth Wise; Jack and Sydney Evans; great-great granddaughter, Trinity Grace Wise. Memorials may be made to Lorena United Methodist Church and the Methodist Children's Home.
