OBITUARY FOR MARGARET JANE GILROY TUCKER Margaret Jane Gilroy Tucker, 98, of Waco died Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at a local nursing home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday, September 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Angelo Bertini officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Mrs. Tucker was born January 29, 1904 in Greeley Co., Nebraska to Michael J. Gilroy and Ellen Sullivan Gilroy. Her family homesteaded in Nebraska in 1877. She attended school in Spalding, Nebraska. She married Francis L. Tucker September 16, 1923 in Spalding. He preceded her in death May 11, 1982. Mr. & Mrs. Tucker owned Tucker Sewing Machine Company, retiring in 1967. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption since 1939 when they moved to Waco. She was active in St. Mary's Womens Guild and was honored for her work in the church. She was a member of a Waco Bowling League well into her eighties. Since her move to the Regis Retirement Center she was well known for her daily walks along the riverwalk with her son, Ed. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Leo, John, and Patrick; sister, Mrs. Kathryn German; son, Lt. John C Jack Tucker, and infant sons, William and James. Survivors include daughter, Colleen Tucker Snider and husband James of Waco; sons, Edward H. Tucker of Waco and Donald F. Tucker and wife Lily of San Angelo; grandchildren, Elizabeth Waldon and husband, Larry D. of Paradise, Texas, Elaine Stuard and husband, Terry of Grand Prairie, Neill P. Snider and wife, Meridith of Waco, Donna Watkins and husband, Rick, Susanne Tucker and Daniel Tucker all of San Angelo; great grandchildren, Lisa Waldon, Larry J. Waldon, Alyssa Stuard, Ryan Stuard, Timothy Stuard, Ross Snider, Jonathon Pagan, and Dylan Tucker; sister, Mary Nowels of Moscow, Idaho, brother, Murt Gilroy of Warrensburg, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of the residents and staff of the Regis/St. Elizabeth Centers for their loving care and concern for their mother during her final illness.
