Margaret Ann Powers, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2025, in Athens, Texas, surrounded by those who love her. Born on December 20, 1930, in Waco, Margaret was a lifelong resident of the area until moving to The Arabella to be closer to her beloved daughter.
A graveside service will be held in her honor on March 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Waco Memorial Park, located at 6623 Interstate 35, Robinson, TX 76706.
A graduate of Waco High School, Margaret continued her education at National Business School. Throughout her life, she exemplified the virtues of hard work and dedication, serving the community and her family with unwavering commitment. As a steadfast and supportive homemaker, she created a nurturing environment for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, instilling in them values of love, faith, and service.
Margaret was a faithful member of Crestview Church of Christ, where she made significant contributions to her church family. She taught children’s bible classes and ladies bible classes, sharing her wisdom and faith with those around her. Notably, she played a pivotal role in organizing the Ladies Ministry program at Crestview, reflecting her deep passion for serving others. Additionally, her involvement with "Meals on Wheels" showcased her commitment to the well-being of her community.
Margaret's proudest accomplishments extended beyond her family and faith. She served on the PTA during her children’s educational years and held esteemed positions on the boards of Evangelia Settlement, Waco Christian School, Mt. Calm Bank, and Coolidge Bank. Her efforts in these roles left a lasting impact on many.
Margaret is survived by her loving daughter, Roseann "Rosi" Roth and her husband, Ben; her son, Brad Powers; grandchildren, Gary Babb, Rachel Christy and her husband, John, Rebecca Bryan and her husband, Phil, and Jesse Roth and his wife, Deb; great-grandchildren, Zachary Christy and his wife, Therese, Noah Christy, Jacob Christy, Elle Roth, Pierson Roth, Harper Roth, Lillie Beth Babb, Jackson Babb, Beatrix Bryan and Bill Bryan; along with numerous other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melville and Grace Miller Curlin; her sister, Geraldine Ledenham; her brothers, William and Tommy Curlin; her grandson, John Bradley Powers; and her devoted husband of over 54 years, Andrew Jackson Powers.
Margaret’s legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. She leaves behind a family that will always cherish her memory and the values she instilled in them.
