Marge Ellis February 12, 1925 October 28, 2008 Marge Ellis, 83, of Waco, formerly of Houston, passed away Oct. 28, 2008, in McKinney, Texas. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 30, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. Marge was born February 12, 1925, in Houston, to Clyde C. and Willie V. Cox Clayton, Sr. She married Robert A. Ellis, Jr., on October 7, 1945, in New Orleans, La. Following World War II, Bob and Marge returned to Houston, where they owned and operated Clayton Tire Company and were active members of South Main Baptist Church. Marge was a member of the Historic Waco Foundation and Baylor University Alumni Association as well as did volunteer work for Waco Symphony, Meals on Wheels, and American Cancer Society. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Waco. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Clyde Clayton Jr., and son-in-law, Jeff Roberts. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Cox and husband, Randy, of Waco, and Peggy Roberts of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley Canuteson and husband, Wade; Jeffrey Paul, Justin Cox, Kelly Thompson and husband, Aaron; Jenny Clines, Brian Roberts and Blake Roberts; great-grandchildren, Zane and Zoey Canuteson; and other nieces, nephews, and loving relatives. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baylor Alumni Association, One Bear Place #97116, Waco TX 76798-7116, Robert A. Ellis Jr., Athletic Scholarship, One Bear Place #97026, Baylor University, Waco TX 76798-7026, the Historic Waco Foundation or the charity of your choice.
