Margie M Beach

Margie Maxey Beach, 99, passed away at Royal Manor in Hewitt after living a long and fruitful life. A Celebration of her life will be held graveside at Oakwood Cemetery Friday, June 17, at 10:00 a.m., with her grandson Jeffrey C. Manske officiating. Margie was born in Tyler, Texas, on December 3, 1922. She was a proud 1940 graduate of Waco High School and later attended 4-C Business College. Margie loved her family with all her heart, as well as those who later became “adopted” members of her family. She lived with passion, humor, curiosity, and a love towards all whom she encountered. Margie was proud of her Waco heritage, particularly the accomplishments of her father, C.C. Maxey, who was Waco’s chief of police from 1937 to 1946 and later Sheriff of McLennan County from 1949-1972. She memorialized his life in an episode aired in 2013 on the Waco City Cable Channel. The highlight of Margie’s life was travelling the United States with the love of her life, Lt. Col. Gilbert “Sandy” Beach. Throughout their travels, they visited most of the continental U.S., with Margie’s favorite destination being Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Margie was gifted with the rare talent of being able to hear a song, pick it out on the organ, and turn it into her own masterpiece. While writing her own lyrics to songs she created, she began to put some of them into poetry form, creating a multitude of original poems. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Bess and C.C. Maxey; daughter, Jan Carol Manske; and husband, Lt. Col. Gilbert “Sandy” A. Beach. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey C. Manske and Jana G. Manske, of Waco; three great-grandchildren, Montana Maingot and husband, Alex, Canyon Manske and wife, N’Kisha, and Court Manske, all of Austin. She was thrilled to welcome her first great-great-grandchild, Archer James Maingot, into the world on June 4, 2022. There are many others who held a very special place in Margie’s heart. First was Fleming Terrell, whom she loved as if she were her own child. Margie cared deeply and was thankful for the many years of close friendship with Fleming’s mother, Cathy Jordan. She also loved Joe Manning and was proud to have “adopted” him as her son. Margie said God sent her an angel to give her special care and that angel’s name is Theresa Julian, who preceded Margie in death. After Theresa’s passing, the Lord sent Margie a second angel, Karel Hoffman. Additionally, Margie was very thankful for the kindness and love shown to her by her cousin, Nita Scott. She especially enjoyed her visits when they shared many family memories. Margie’s last years were spent at Royal Manor in Hewitt.
