Marguerite Bessie Manges

Marguerite Bessie Manges of Waco passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Providence Hospice Place. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 18, at Grace Temple Baptist Church, 3825 Bosque Blvd., in Waco with the Rev. Craig Klempnauer officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Marguerite was born May 6, 1921, in Valley Mills, Texas, to William and Nancy Ann Ladd. She attended business school in Temple, Texas, and was a volunteer at the USO at Fort Hood, where she met her husband, Paul. They were married in Indiana, Pennsylvania, then moved to Texas. She was a member of Bosqueville Baptist Church, then later Grace Temple Baptist Church. Marguerite’s career was with the government, and she always had time for her family and grandchildren. She loved to fish, sew, work puzzles, paint and dance. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; three sisters, Birdie Lee, Mary Tennie and Pauline Para; one brother, Edwin; one son, Paul Manges, Jr.; one daughter, Susie Norris; and one great-grandchild, C.J. London. She is survived by her son, Gary Manges; a daughter, Rhetta Pickens and husband, Charlie; four grandchildren, Suzanne Norris, Bobbie Jo London and husband, Chris, Adam Gunn and Jo Ann Pate of Ft. Worth, and Charlie Pickens III and wife, Kristi; great-grandchildren, Haven, Addison and Carson London, and Charlie Pickens, IV. Honorary Pallbearers are Adam Gunn, Charlie Pickens III and Alejandro Solis. The family would like to thank St. Catherine Center Third Floor, Providence Hospital Fourth Floor and also Providence Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either of the facilities listed above or the charity of your choice.
