In her younger years, Maria worked diligently cleaning homes for others, demonstrating a strong work ethic that would define her later years. She transitioned to a position as a Millwright at Clifton Molding Company, showcasing her ability to adapt and thrive in different environments. Known for her outgoing personality, Maria was a beloved pillar of her community, recognized as a small-town conservative strong lady. After many years of creating a beautiful family and a life of loved together, Maria married, Ernesto Castillo, October 7, 1985 in Waco.
Family was the center of Maria's life. Her home was a hub for relatives, a warm gathering place filled with love and laughter. She was a devoted mother to her children, Maria Ynes Bautista Castro and her family of Mexico, Maria Rosario Bautista Castro and her family of Mexico, Catarino Baustista and his wife, Mary Gonzalez of Abilene, Maria Yrma Bautista Castro and her family of Mexico, and Armando Ruiz and his wife, Ronda of Clifton. Maria also embraced her role as a step-mother to Gomelia Nacianceno and her family and Maria Edith Olvera and her family. The legacy of her love carries on through her numerous grandchildren and extensive great-grandchildren.
In addition to her dedication to her family, Maria enjoyed activities that brought her joy. She had a passion for dancing, cherished peaceful moments by the lake, appreciated the simple pleasure of enjoying a beer, and remained unfazed by the idea of being a skilled shot with a shotgun.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Maria Paz Moralez Castro, several siblings, and her beloved husband of over 31 years, Ernesto Castillo.
Maria Onesima Castillo's presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved and admired her.
