On the afternoon of Thursday, January 27, 2022, an angel came and carried Marian, 95, to her eternal home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ. Waiting patiently for two days to have their 75th anniversary dance was her best friend, and only love, Lacy Garmon. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 1, from 6-8PM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Her Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, February 2nd, 10AM at First Evangelical Church, 6347 South I-35, Waco, TX 76706. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Marian was born at home in Robinson to Clarence and Meta Hartwick on August 15, 1926. She was the second daughter of four girls. Marian attended the Robinson Schools graduating from Waco High School. After graduating she entered the Providence Corp of Cadets nursing school. In 1946 a young merchant marine stole her heart, and they were married on January 25, 1947. After marriage Marian used her nursing skills to help the sick and elderly in Robinson. Marian’s church was a major part of her life; Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Confirmation Teacher, President and Secretary of the Lady’s Circle (many times over), and even a cook at Church Camp, were just a few of the hats she wore. Lacy took an early retirement, and they became motorhome nomads for over six years. This direction only changed to follow their granddaughters’ endeavors. Marian was a supporter of Midway Softball and cheerleading, following “her grandbabies” from state to state. One major highlight was attending the girls Little League World Series in Oregon. Marian was then blessed to follow her “great grandbabies” and all their endeavors. In later life she began knitting and crocheting, winning ribbons at the fair for her quilts. Marian was best known for her famous dishcloths. These cloths were given to nurses, doctors, school teachers, bank tellers, family and friends, and just about everyone she came in contact with. For the last nine years every Wednesday was known as “Ninnies’ Day”. The name “Ninnie” was given to her by her first granddaughter over 40 years ago. Since then, she has become everyone’s “Ninnie”. Ninnies’ day consisted of shopping, antiquing, eating out, manicure and pedicures, picking up great grandchildren from school, and then ending the day with a family dinner. This Wednesday everyone will celebrate with our family on “Ninnies’” most special day. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lacy Garmon Jr.; grandson, Joshua Ray Reaves; sister Alzona Tacker. Survived by her daughter, Suzzane and husband, Michael Reaves; granddaughter, Ashley and husband Clint Edens; their children, Grant and Lacy Edens; granddaughter, Lindsey and husband Bryan Cockrell; their children, Ashlin and Alise Cockrell; sister, Norvell Lasseter and husband Roy; sister, Martha Gentle. Pallbearers; Michael Reaves, Clint Edens, Grant Edens, Bryan Cockrell, Ronnie Perry, and Eugene Schaeper. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Evangelical Church. “Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31
