HANCOCK, MARIE CECILIA Marie Cecilia Hancock, 69 of Waco, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at a local hospital. Memorial services will be at 1pm Saturday, September 18 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. David Leibham officiating. Visitation with family will be from 5-9pm Friday, September 17 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Maria Cecilia Yglesias Vieto was born in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1935. She came to the United States at the age of nine and later became a U. S. Citizen. Marie moved to Waco in 1981. She joined the Farmers Insurance Group and opened her own insurance agency from 1986-1993. She became a realtor in 1986. In 1988 she became a broker and started Hancock Properties, the first bilingual buyers’ agency in Waco. In 1994, Marie started the first Waco translation company, Hancock Services. A recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, Marie was dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the residents of Waco, especially in the Hispanic community. She was a member of several associations including Waco Association of Realtors, American Translators Association, Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Marie also provided many services for the Hispanic speaking community which included helping them with immigration and real estate processes. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Carlyle Hancock, in 2000. Survivors included her daughters, Susan M. Dundon, Barbara J. McCroskey and husband George Vic, Nancy L. Carroll and husband Michael and Karen R. Brown and husband Allan; son, Kenneth J. Becker and wife Caryn; grandchildren, Michael Dundon and wife Larissa, Christina Faniel and husband LeVar, Kimberly Anderson and husband Timothy, Elizabeth McCroskey, Michael and T.J. Carroll, and Stevan, Ryan and Justin Brown; sister-in-law, Flor Yglesias, brothers, Lic. Rodolfo Yglesias and wife Sheiris, Dr. Alvaro Yglesias and wife Flora and Rodrigo Yglesisa, who preceded Marie in death; great aunt, Loyda Vieto; and numerous nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Costa Rica. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Community Bank, for the Marie C. Hancock scholarship fund for the Waco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
