Marilyn Kuehl Smith

Marilyn Kuehl Smith, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2016, in Webster, Texas, with family by her side. Visitation will be held 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 5, at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Waco. Marilyn was born in Prairie Hill, Texas, on January 12, 1937, to Edwin Otto Kuehl and Annie Reuwer Kuehl. She attended Axtell High School, where she played basketball and was a cheerleader, graduating in 1955. She later attended Southwest Texas State University. She worked in T.V. and radio advertising for many years and had recently retired from The Waco Symphony sales team. Marilyn loved working in the advertisement field and never met a stranger. She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed attending and watching all sporting events. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, J.T. Kuehl, Andrew “Buddy” Kuehl, Jack Kuehl and Arthur “Art” Kuehl; nieces, Vicki Kuehl and Kathi Lu Couch; and nephew, Roger Kuehl. She is survived by her brothers, Edwin “Chief” Kuehl and wife, Diane, of Grand Prairie, Gene “Boogie” Kuehl of Lorena and Donnie Kuehl of Glen Rose; sister, Lorraine “Ticka” Varner of Waco; sons, Todd Smith and Dot Frames of Pasadena, Texas, Scot Smith and wife, Dawn, of Friendswood, Texas; daughter, Teri Smith Walker and husband, Morgan, of Streetman, Texas; grandchildren, Megan, Kori and Molly Smith, and Drew and Logan Walker; lifelong friend, Beverly “Bev” Whatley of Waco; and many nephews, nieces, and friends.
