Mario Montez Payne passed away at age 52 on March 6, 2021, at Providence Hospital. The viewing will be held 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., March 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd, Waco TX 76710. Mr. Payne was born on June 4, 1968, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to his parents, Alphonso and Erma Jean Payne. He graduated in 1986 from Assumption Catholic High School and was raised Catholic. He was a truck driver for H.E.B for 20 years, retiring in 2016. He enjoyed comic books, music, sports, sitting outside, and spending time with family. Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his wife, Demetrius Lewis-Payne; his sons, Bryant Payne and wife, Cristal, Brendan Grandberry and wife, Jasmine, Jordan Payne, and Deleon Parker; his fourteen grandchildren; his sister and brother, Tawana Payne and Kevin Payne and wife, Diane; stepmother, Velma Payne; along with his stepdaughters, Tiera Burley, Chastity Daniels, and Ereka Carter-Graves and husband, Devante.
