Marion G. Anderson June 14, 1923 - March 18, 2013 Marion Gardner Jack Anderson, a native of Waco, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 22, at Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Verne Fuqua officiating. Jack was born June 14, 1923, to Arthur Cleveland and Lillian Arnold Anderson. He attended Sanger Avenue Elementary, West Junior High, and Waco High School, and was a graduate of the Class of 1941. He attended Baylor University. He and Betty Grace Smith were married on October 21, 1950, in Waco. He was a lifelong member of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church and served in many capacities. He attended the Friendship Class and was a member of the Methodist Men's Club. Jack was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations during the Rhineland and Central Germany Campaigns. After V-E, his unit was redeployed to the Philippines and later performed occupation duty in Japan. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 21 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2148 and a past post commander. He was employed by the United States Postal Service and retired in 1984, as director of customer services of the Waco Management Sectional Center. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty; three daughters, Martha Grace and her husband, Dr. John David Cranor II, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Marian Gail and her husband, Frank Jefferson Daniel, Jr., of Arlington, Texas, and Virginia Kay and her husband, James William Cosper, Jr., of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, John David Cranor III of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Matthew Anderson Cranor of Fort Collins, and Jennifer Gail Daniel and Sarah Elizabeth Daniel, of Lubbock. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 140th Ordnance HM Company FA World War II. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Austin Avenue United Methodist Church.
