Mariquetta Horton July 15, 1926 - March 27, 2015 Mariquetta Coats Horton of Woodway passed away Friday, March 27, 2015. Services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 11:00 a.m. at Crestview Church of Christ . Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 31, 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Mariquetta Coats Horton was born July 15, 1926 in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Area. At the loss of her mother, was raised at Boles Home, where she stayed until high school graduation. Upon graduation she attended Hill Junior College. In Hillsboro, she was taken in by a loving couple, Alice and Lawrence Lyon, and her family was created. After moving to Waco, she met Malcolm Allan Horton on the steps of Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. At first she thought he was just another "arrogant Aggie", but it wasn't long before he became the love of her life and they began 64 years in a loving Christian marriage. They were blessed with twin daughters, Nan and Jan, and three years later with another daughter Cynthia Kay, "Keeta" as her friends called her. Mariquetta became the best wife, mother, room mother, Sunday school teacher, cook, party hostess, shower giver, lover of clowns, you know, she didn't have any, grandmother and great grandmother she could ever be. She loved God first, Allan second, family third, then friends, country, and the Texas Aggies. She is survived by her husband, Malcolm Allan Horton; daughters, Nan Ellis and husband, Jeff, Jan Horton of Waco, Cynthia Kay Townsend, and husband, Mark, of Georgetown; grandchildren, Jason Ellis and wife, Melissa, of Waco, Alison Ellis Stutzman and husband, Chris, and Jeremy Ellis of Austin, and Adriane Ellis May and husband, Zach, of Brownwood, Austin Townsend and wife, Kelly, of Conroe, and Rachel Townsend Berger and husband, Dean, of Seguin; great grandchildren, Garrett Robken, Miles Allan and John Riley Ellis, Noah Gage, Cole Miller, and Ford Riley Stutzman, Emory Ellis, John Samuel, and Grant Harris May, Hannah Lee and Graham Allan Townsend, and Sayge, Beckett, and Brodie Berger, alone with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Debra of America, Inc. 75 Broad St. #300 NY, NY 10004 an organization supporting research of EB from which her grandson suffers, Eastern European Missions, or the Alzheimer's Association.
