Marjorie Crow Doyle

Marjorie Crow Doyle August 2, 1922 – May 2, 2007 Marjorie Crow Doyle left to be with our Lord on Wednesday evening, May 2, 2007, after an abundant life of 84 years. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Pastors Walter Albers and Joel Boesche officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2007, at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Garden Room. She was born on August 2, 1922, to Archie and Fannie Holster in Sylvester, Texas, in Roby County. She grew up during the depression and once picked 500 pounds of cotton in one day. In 1937, she married E. B. Crow, and they welcomed Helen Darlyne into the family in 1940. During WWII, while E. B. served in Europe, she worked, but returned to being a stay at home Mom at the end of the war. They moved to Waco in 1954. In 1959, John Marcum was added to the family. She delighted in her children’s lives and the lives of other children as well. She loved being “room mother” and working with both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, but her true gift was teaching little children about God. She worked with many Sunday School classes and summer Bible schools. She organized many church activities including exceptional live nativity scenes at Christmas time. As her children grew older, she worked away from home, usually as a bookkeeper. She also spent time painting portraits of her grandchildren. When E. B. retired in 1980, they began their “traveling and grandchildren” years. They totally outfitted their travel trailer, and spent happy years renewing ties with family in California and “camping out” with children and grandchildren. After E. B. went to the Lord in 1992, Marge became very active in Hospice. She was a member of the Red Hat Society as well as the Banner Bunch at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Her involvement with Hospice brought Merle Doyle into her life. He had lost his wife, and had become an active Hospice volunteer. They decided to spend their last years together and were married in 1996. They had ten wonderful years together enjoying church, travel, gardening, canning, and the many activities of their grandchildren and great-grand children. However, what they enjoyed most was the “life of love” together rather than a life of loneliness, which God had given to them. Marge was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, E. B. Crow; her husband of 10 years, Merle Doyle; a sister, Annie Lou; and her stillborn daughter, Sharon Estelle. She leaves behind her daughter, Helen Reading of Waco; her son, John Marcum Crow and his wife, Dr. Chelleye L. Crow of Waco. Her grandchildren Scot Suri and his wife, Tracey of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Stacy Fair and husband, David of Lorena; Stephanie Suri of Bellmead; John Marcum Crow II of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Brandon Crow of Waco. Her great-grandchildren include Ty Gerganus of Phoenix, Arizona; Mindy Suri and Rayne Armstrong of Lorena; and Myles and Jacob Suri of Colorado Springs, Co.
