The family will receive visitors following the service at the home of her brother, Bill Warren, 7320 Westover in Waco. Marjorie was born on October 3, 1923 in Weslaco, TX to R. William Warren, Jr. and Winifred Elizabeth Smith Warren. Her mother was Winifred Smith Warren of Waco. Marjorie lost her father at an early age, and she and her mother worked hard to care for her three younger brothers. Marjorie came from a musical family, and as a young girl she learned to play the piano and also wrote poetry. Marjorie graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1940. She played cornet in the school band and was asked to conduct the band when Corpus Christi played Waco High at football in 1939. Marjorie began Baylor University in 1940 as a music major studying piano and organ. She graduated in 1948 with a B.B.A. At one time she took a break from school to work as registrar for the young San Antonio College. In June of 1948, Marjorie married Bland Hugh Schwarting of Waco while Bland was in Baylor Medical School. Marjorie, a Baptist, and Bland, a Catholic, became Episcopalians soon after marrying. While Bland was in the Air Force, they lived in Hawaii, Washington, D.C., Dayton, Ohio and San Antonio where they have lived since 1957. Marjorie was a Gray Lady in both Tripler and Brooke Army Hospitals. After the birth of their two children, Marjorie became very active in the Bexar County Medical Auxiliary. In 1968 she was President of the Auxiliary. Later she was Southern Regional Vice-President of the State Auxiliary. Marjorie was a daughter of the Republic of Texas and her great grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Gholson, became a Texas Ranger in the early days of Texas statehood. Marjorie was also a member of the San Antonio Symphony League, San Antonio Conservation Society and McNay Art Museum. Margie and Bland attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church while their children were young. Later Marjorie became a founding member of All Saints Anglican Church, and she served as church treasurer and historian for many years. Marjorie loved to read, and as a little girl she wanted to read every book in the local library. She also loved to write sweet little notes and cards which were always cherished by her family and friends. Most of all, Margie loved being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was deeply devoted to her family and her home. Marjorie was beloved by so many for her beautiful, sweet smile and her gracious, caring ways. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Harry William Warren of Waco. She is survived by her husband, Bland, daughter, Laura Elizabeth Schwarting, son, Bland Hugh Schwarting, Jr., brothers Larry Franklin Warren and R. William Warren, III of Waco, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donation be made to All Saints Anglican Church Memorial Fund, 11122 Link Drive, San Antonio, TX 78213.
