Martha Belcher March 31, 1936 - May 9, 2011 Martha Belcher, wife of Roy Belcher, of Waco passed away peacefully, at home, early Monday morning, May 9, 2011. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. David Story officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Martha had an accidental fall at home, resulting in complications that grew worse and ended with her death. Martha Ann is gone from our home, but she remains in our memories. She was a dedicated Christian, and when she died, her Spirit was carried by angels to be with her Lord and Savior forever more. We have full faith and confidence we will meet again. Martha was born March 31, 1936, in Fort Worth. Her father was Mr. Jack A. Pool, and her mother was Estelle Purser Pool. The family moved to Waco from Houston in the fall of 1954, when Martha entered Baylor University. She attended Baylor and almost graduated, before she became seriously ill. Martha married Roy Belcher, April 30, 1960; they were together for 51 years. They had no children. Martha and Roy are members of Richfield Christian Church. She has been in poor health for a number of years, and they have been unable to attend church, but we have learned to 'go to church' by watching church on television. Martha was a 50-year member of Waco Chapter No 7, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Past Matron of Lorena Chapter No 1124. As a sunflower turns to its God, when he sets, she gives him the same look she gave, when he rose. A heart that has truly loved, never forgets. We are weak in our mortality, but our hope is alive and eternal. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Roy Belcher and many of her relatives. She had no brothers or sisters, but some cousins she loved dearly. Her close family was her Grandmother Purser; her mother's brother, Uncle Jadi; then there was her cousin, Jim Purser, whom she still says she loved. In later years, Martha Ann loved her cousins from her mother's family. There was her cousin, Betty, who had two boys and two girls. They shared their lives freely and had lots of good times in Houston. Roy would like to express his thanks to the staff of Girling Health Care for their help; to Martha's close friend, Doris West; and to Roy's cousin, D'Ann Martin, who has cared for Martha since last December. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WilkirsonHatchBailey.com.
