Martha Nanette Burt passed to her Lord and Savior on November 9, 2007. Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2007 at China Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Grant officiating. Nanette was born the daughter of Corine and Dinky Garrett on February 22, 1936. She grew up in China Spring, TX with her brother, Jerry, who she liked to pick at from the top of a tall oak tree. She was a graduate of Waco High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Allison Burt, on August 24, 1955. They raised their two girls, Arlene and Cindy, to have a passion for knowledge and travel. Nanette lived the life of a committed military wife for twenty years, traveling throughout the U.S., before retiring to the China Spring area. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. Mom’s love was her family, that included brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews, all of whom enjoyed gathering for special occasions at “Aunt Net’s” house. Some of her passions included reading and planning trips. Mom’s eyes would light up as she planned her next cross country trip. She has always been this family’s navigator. She will be deeply missed. Mom did her job well, and our family will follow her direction to walk with God and live life with grace and dignity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dinky and Corine Garrett. She is survived by her husband, Allison Burt; daughters: Arlene Zacharias and Cindy Taggart; brother: Jerry L. Garrett, and wife Bonnie; three granddaughters: Caty Nivan, Ja-Cie Royal, and Ashley Allison Walpole; and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Chuck Carlile, Larry Smith, Justin Smith, Trey Smith, Jamie Chmelar, and Brian Burt. Memorials may be made to China Spring United Methodist Church. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com.
