Mary Agnes Moncus

August 24, 1905 — July 23, 2004

Mary Agnes Moncus, 98, of Waco passed away July 23, 2004 at a local nursing home. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Angelo Bertini and Rev. Patrick Adejoh officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel at 6101 Bosque Blvd, followed by visitation. Mary was born August 24, 1905 to Amadus Hasse and Catherine Johnson Hasse in Palestine, Texas. On January 28, 1933 she married Andrew Louis Moncus, Sr. in Austin. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Austin and she worked at the Waco State Home for 20 years, retiring in 1972. She was a long time active member of the China Spring Civic Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter and son-in-law, Rose Mary and Dr. Ed Sparks and by her three brothers. She is survived by sons, Andrew Louis Moncus, Jr. and wife Elois of Bosqueville, James Leo Moncus and wife Norma of Houston; daughters, Cathy D.D. Ashley and husband Billy of Lake Buchanan, Regina Hawkins and husband Robert Bob of Waco, Bernadette Dette Cardenas and husband Ricardo of Wimberley. She loved and was loved by grandchildren, Julie Cavanaugh and husband Matt of Austin, Andrea Ashley of Austin, Randy Moncus and wife Teresa of Dickinson, Stephen and Kevin Moncus of Conroe, Lisa Moncus of Houston, Monica Hayes and husband Jason of Bosqueville, Shane Moncus and wife Lisa of Bosqueville, Allison Moncus of Tunisia, Susanne Burgin and husband Jay of Waco, Nick Sparks and wife Phyllis of Nashville, TN, Brenda Hawkins Szuch and husband Steve of Waco, Bryan Hawkins of Tomball, Andres Cardenas and wife Deborah of Austin, Ramon and Rebecca Cardenas of Houston; great grandchildren, Natalie, Amanda and Aaron Hopkins, Ashley and Matthew Cavanaugh, Randy Jr., Allen, Dylan, Tanner, Andrew, and Blake Moncus, Hannah, Drew and Luke Hayes, Catalina, Brandon and Jasmine Cardenas; sister-in-law, Rita McNamara of Bosqueville.
