Mary Alice Bartlett March 6, 1913 – December 1, 2007 Mary Alice Bartlett was born in May, Texas, on March 6, 1913. After a brief illness, she left from Lorena, Texas, to go to her heavenly home on December 1, 2007. She died in her home with her family at her side. Alice was a vibrant, independent woman who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Services will be held Wednesday, December 5th at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Lorena with Rev. Mike Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Lorena cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 4th at the funeral home. Until her illness, Alice led an active life. She has been very involved in the Lorena community since she moved there in 1957. She took great pride in her family. Her days were brightened by her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. She thoroughly enjoyed her church activities, her pets, her garden, her civic groups, and traveling with friends. Before her retirement, Alice was in charge of the tax office for the Lorena ISD. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lorena for many years, where she taught Sunday school. For decades, she maintained the finances and records for the Lorena Cemetery Association, only recently reassigning those responsibilities. She also helped with the local Meals on Wheels program and was a member of the Lorena Women’s Club and other community groups. She served regularly as election judge until the last few years. She was proud to have been an active member of the Republican Party for over 45 years. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. Bartlett, by her parents, and by several siblings. She is survived by her sons Michael and wife Elizabeth and Sam and wife Doris; grandson Alex; granddaughters Megan, Melanie, Laura, and Amy; and great grand-daughter Maya. She is also survived by a sister, Pauline Fox of Bakersfield, California; a brother, Cordell Bailey, of San Jose, California; and many relatives and friends.
