Mary Ann Austin March 26, 1931 - December 8, 2012 Mary Austin of Waco passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Mary was born March 26, 1931, and grew up in Dallas, Texas. She attended Adamson High School in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. In the summer of 1949, while working at a Skillern Drug Store in downtown Dallas as a cashier, she met W.B. Bill Austin, 3rd, and they were married on March 27, 1950. The wedding was originally planned for Mary's birthday, March 26, but Bill, being in the USMC, missed the date by one day due to a travel foul-up. Bill and Mary have enjoyed 62 years of happy marriage raising four children. Mary has been very active in the Perceptor Eta Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, holding all of the offices in her chapter, for the past 43 years. She was also president of the Waco Iris Society. During her early years of motherhood, Mary was an active Cub Scout den mother, and a constant spectator at the Lake Air Little League ball fields, with three young boys and a daughter in the household. She was also a graduate of the Bible Study Fellowship BSF from 2001 through 2008. Both she and Bill are members of Grace Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, David Matthew Austin. She is survived by her husband, Bill; three children, Robert Lynn Austin, Paul Wesley Austin, and Laura Elizabeth Green; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
