Mary's mother, a widow with three children, came over from Sicily to marry her father, a widower, with five children. Together they bore three children, of which Mary was the youngest. Mary grew up on a farm in Gholson. She often told us stories of growing up on the farm, going to town in the mule drawn wagon, walking three miles to catch the school bus to attend classes in Ross, and of other experiences in the early years of the century. She married Dwayne Trantham in 1936. They had two children, who Mary raised by herself for most of their lives. She was a hard worker and good provider, working for Woods Manufacturing and Waco Apparel, for many years. She was active and worked until her 70's, only retiring at that time due to her diminished eyesight. She made many friends throughout the years at her job and in her neighborhood. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings, as well as a grandson, Randy Lee Searcy. She is survived by her son, Michael Trantham and wife, Carol; her daughter, Nora Mullen and husband, Gary; grandson, Anthony Trantham and wife, Melissa; granddaughter, Jennifer Bernardi and husband, Derrick; and five great grandchildren, Abigail and Sofia Trantham, Reese Jeffries, Bella and Sophie Bernardi. Pallbearers are Jim Crow, John Roberts, Lewis Osborn, Don Stevens, Mark Taylor, and Allen Laird. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.WilkirsonHatchBailey.com.
