STRICKLAND, MARY Mary Dessere Strickland, age 95, of Waco died Thursday, September 13, 2001 in a McGregor nursing home. Graveside services will be 11:00AM Saturday, September 15th at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Tom Clark officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Strickland was born in Gatesville, TX May 30, 1906. She married Guy Elmer Strickland; they owned and operated a grocery store on 6th St. here in Waco for many years, he preceded her in death in 1978. Her parents, two sisters, and three brothers also preceded her in death. She was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church and Eastern Star #929. Survivors include: Sister-in-law: Wanita Williams Nieces: Jackie Dalrimple, Barbara Gross, and Melissa Pennington Nephew: David Williams Several other nieces and nephews Memorials may be made to Grace Temple Baptist Church.
