DAVIS, MARY ELLAN Mary Ellan Davis, age 85, of Hewitt, formerly of Amarillo died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 10am Friday, August 1, 2003 at Columbus Ave. Baptist Church with Dr. Winfred Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Thursday, July 31 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Davis was born August 30, 1917 in Anson, Texas to Boone and Inez Johnson Gause. She finished high school at Anson. She met and later married Rev. B. L. Davis in Abilene March 28, 1941. She graduated from Howard Payne University in 1955 with a B.S. degree in elementary education, and taught first and third grade for twenty five years. She traveled with her husband to several countries to do Flannel Graff bible stories to little children in their language during his crusade engagements. She was a member of Columbus Ave. Baptist Church of Waco. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. B. L. Davis of Hewitt; daughter, Dian Taylor and husband, Don of Waco; son, Mike Davis and wife, Mary Kay of Austin; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Doak Taylor, Doug Taylor, Davis Taylor, Danny Howe, Ralph Rummage, and James Bart.
