Mary Ellen Hill June 28, 1920 October 1, 2010 Mary Ellen Renfro-Hill, of West, TX, went from her home to be with her Heavenly Father on October 1, 2010. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, with Rev. Greg Brumit officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, October 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Mary was the second of ten children born to John and Virgie Renfro in Lorena, TX, in June of 1920. Moving later to Riesel, she and her mother and siblings often walked to New Hope Baptist Church on Sundays on Rt. 1860 near Hallsburg. She subsequently was baptized in the river behind that church. She loved country music and watching hummingbirds feed as the sun set. Mary Ellen was known and loved for her giving heart and gentle ways. She never missed an opportunity to show compassion and love to those who needed her, and was admired by many for her relentless efforts to help and comfort those less fortunate or burdened with heavy heart. She possessed a truly beautiful soul. Mary Ellen is survived and honored by her brother, Roy Renfro of Lott; children, Carolyn Degrate, Mallory Hill, Diana Goffinett, Vicki Snelson, and Marilyn Verschoor; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
